Tektronix has expanded its video test generator family to include modules that provide a complete solution for multiformat analogue test signal generator needs.

Tektronix has expanded its video test generator family to include modules that provide a complete solution for multiformat analogue test signal generator needs and a software upgrade that supports additional formats, such as those required for HDTV.

Equipment manufacturers, system integrators, terrestrial broadcasters, and the post-production community need to simultaneously operate, test, and maintain a combination of analogue and digital equipment.

The new Tektronix AVG7 analogue video generator module and AWVG7 analogue wideband video generator module, which are part of the TG700 test generation family, provide test signals necessary to support multistandard/multiformat needs.

The addition of these modules to the already robust range of modules offered in the TG700 family make the TG700 family fully capable of handling both analogue and digital test signal requirements.

Tektronix has also released a Version 3.1 software upgrade.

This new software release provides support for all 720p high-definition formats, branding the TG700 as the only generator currently available that supports all of the 720p formats.

"When we launched the TG700 family two years ago, we provided a platform that could evolve as industry needs changed.

Today, that platform is one of the most robust test generation platforms in the world, with modules that generate a variety of different formats, including analogue, standard-definition digital, and high-definition digital", said Todd Biddle, General Manager, Video Business, Tektronix: "By listening to our customers' requests, we've been able to develop multiformat test generation equipment that deals with the exact requirements needed in today's industry".

Two new analogue test signal generator modules strengthen TG700 platform The modularity of the TG700 platform provides a smooth analogue/digital configuration path by allowing customers to select only those modules they currently need in a facility.

Then, when they need changes, separate modules can be purchased.

The new analogue modules provide a complete range of analogue solutions that will support the test and measurement needs of equipment manufacturers, system integrators, research and development engineers, and broadcast and post-production professionals.

The AVG7 analogue video generator is a multiformat analogue test signal generator module for 525/625 interlace formats supporting component (Y, Pb, Pr, G, B, R, Y/C), 525 Beta, and composite (Pal, NTSC, NTSC NoSetup).

It provides two identical component outputs, or two identical Y/C and composite, or six identical composite outputs.

The AVG7 module also supports frame pictures, editable ID text from the front panel, logo and circle overlay on output test signals, and active picture scroll.

The AWVG7 is an analogue wideband video generator that supports a variety of HD analogue component formats (Y, Pb, Pr or GBR).

The module provides two identical component outputs with a bandwidth of 30MHz.

The AWVG7 module also supports frame pictures, editable ID text from the front panel, logo and circle overlay on output test signals, and active picture scroll.

Up to two AWVG7 analogue wideband video generators can be placed in a single TG700 mainframe.

Frame picture patterns, AV timing modes and flat field signals (option BK) are available for DVG7 and HDVG7 modules.

Frame picture patterns provide a variety of test signals within the frame for aligning a variety of video equipment and signal paths.

AV timing functionality ensures that audio and video signals are synchronised, and flat field signals help identify field-timing issues.
