What is it?
Microprocessors, microcontrollers and DSPs:
Central processing units (CPUs) carry out the instructions of a computer program. Microprocessors combine the functions of a CPU on one IC. Microcontrollers are small computers, with a basic CPU that is combined with a variety of support functions. Digital signal processors (DSPs) are specialised microprocessors that can process signals, usually in real-time.
