American Portwell Technology has released CAM-0100, a desktop fanless network appliance.

Offered as a Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) Office-in-a-Box appliance, the CAM-0100 is powered by the Cavium Octeon CN5010 (single core) / CN5020 (dual core) Secure Communication Processor with built-in security function.

The CAM-0100 supports DDR2 SODIMM 400/533/667 up to 1Gb and includes: two RGMII RJ45 GbE ports and four RJ45 GbE switch ports for SOHO network requirements; data protection via one bypass segment for fail-over option; one Mini-PCI socket for a wireless access point card; one Compact Flash socket and one SATA interface.

At 8.27(W) x 5.85(D) x 1.73in(H), the CAM-0100 is a 1U height A5-size platform, suitable for SIs, OEMs and software developers designing and implementing edge-networking security applications.

This could include network intrusion prevention/detection; spyware control, content filter; P2P control, instant message recording for SOHO and remote-satellite office; medical DICOM and PACS industrial control and automation and PCI Data Security Standard.

When working with the CAM-0100, the Octeon CN5020/CN5010 processors provide an integrated 128KB L2 cache, QOS, TCP, packet and security co-processing in hardware with interfaces such as multiple Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, PCI and USB 2.0.
