‘Soho’

An Electronicstalk guide

Start with the news release Switches cut power and size from Pericom Semiconductor Corp, which we summarised at the time by saying "Compact and low power PCIe packet and DisplayPort switches suit power-, size- and value-sensitive applications, such as volume notebooks and PCs.". Several months prior to that, we featured the news release Platforms simplify storage system design from Oxford Semiconductor: "Advanced platform designs enable storage system designers to evolve consumer and SOHO offerings with the market as end customer demands increase.".

In July 2008, we covered the news from Sabre Advanced Microelectronics - take a look at PoE controller identifies high-power loads which says: "Two-event classification allows the controller to recognise whether it is connected to a Type 1 (802.3af/13W) or Type 2 (802.3at/30W) power sourcing equipment.".

Take a look also at the news release from Pericom Semiconductor Corp, PCIe switches into low-cost mode, as well as Software upgrade saves networking power from Vitesse Semiconductor, and Communications appliances on the desk and rack from Portwell Technology.
