The NANO-8044 is first embedded board based on the Nano-ITX form factor to use the Intel Atom processor Z510/Z530 and the Intel System Controller Hub US15W.

New from Portwell Technology, the NANO-8044 is first embedded board based on the Nano-ITX form factor to use the Intel Atom processor Z510/Z530 and the Intel System Controller Hub US15W.

At a mere 120 x 120mm, the compact NANO-8044 measures only 50% of the standard Mini-ITX.

This new microarchitecture benefits a range of low-power systems and handheld mobile devices in applications such as portable POS, medical healthcare, mobile kiosk, mobile gaming and digital signage.

The NANO-8044 is specifically designed to operate at a very low power consumption (less than 10W at full loading) and low heat, so it can be a truly fanless configuration and battery operated.

It supports gigabit Ethernet, audio, six USB ports and dual display by LVDS and SDVO connector.

"We realise that there are many small form factor boards in the market", says Jam Lam, American Portwell Technology's Senior Product Marketing Manager.

"But we believe the new NANO-8044 stands out from the crowd".

"It is an off-the-shelf solution that can readily address today's need for applications that require a much smaller board size than the existing Mini-ITX form factors and it provides a truly fanless configuration".

The NANO-8044 supports one 200-pin SO-DIMM memory slot for up to 1Gbyte of DDR2 SDRAM and comes with one IDE, one Type II CompactFlash socket, one SD card, dual independent display by VGA and 24bit LVDS, one gigabit Ethernet and one PCI-E expansion slot.

"The Intel Atom processor provides a fanless, compact solution that meets the requirements of the market segments Portwell serves", said Frank Shen, American Portwell Technology's Product Marketing Director.

"We have taken advantage of this technology to furnish a product that reduces the size of the Mini-ITX by half".

"When you add in LVDS panel support and longevity support for seven years, the new NANO-8044 is the perfect solution for any embedded application with panel display".
