The RF-330 16-core PCI-X network acceleration adapter is suitable for applications such as security network services and compression acceleration in security, storage and networking appliances.

American Portwell Technology has released the RF-330 single-card acceleration adapter with built-in security.

Based on the multiCore MIPS-64 technology from Cavium Networks, the RF-330 uses Cavium's Octeon CN38XX series network services processors to provide packet processing with up 16 cores to support both Host Mode for a stand-alone system board and Target Mode as a PCI-X add-on card.

Built-in security features include de/compression, encryption/decryption, regular expression, pattern matching, TCP acceleration, SSL, IPS, Antivirus and QoS (quality of service).

The RF-330 16-core PCI-X network acceleration adapter is suitable for applications such as security network services and compression acceleration in security, storage and networking appliances.

"Our customers were seeking to simplify the physical hardware required for packet optimisation without losing valuable features", says Mark Huang, American Portwell Technology's Product Marketing Manager.

"Not only does Portwell's new RF-330 advanced packet optimising card enhance our customers' x86 server with MIPS multicore power, it provides rich built-in security and expansion features in a single card that offers market-leading performance".

"The Cavium Network Octeon engine that drives this unit can tap into as many as sixteen MIPS64 processor cores", explains Frank Shen, American Portwell Technology's Product Marketing Director.

"We've enhanced the compression performance to as high as 6Gbit/s, which we believe is the best on the market today and we've combined that with equally outstanding security acceleration for IPS/SSL and TCP of up to 10Gbit/s".

"The RF-330 offers a full intrusion prevention/antivirus solution that uses RegEx (regular expression) pattern-matching engines with speeds of up to 4Gbit/s".

"What's more, by using an SPI 4.2 connector, we can maximise performance scalability".
