New ultra-small thin surface-mount crystals measure only 2.0 x 1.6 x 0.45mm, weigh just 6mg and operate in a fundamental frequency range of 24 to 80MHz.

NDK (Nihon Dempa Kogyo) announces the availability of a new series of ultra-small thin surface-mount crystals.

The NX2016AA series measures only 2.0 x 1.6 x 0.45mm, measuring just half the volume of any of NDK's other crystal products.

These crystals operate in a fundamental frequency range of 24 to 80MHz and weigh just 6mg.

Their frequency tolerance is +/- 15ppm to +/- 100ppm over the operating temperature range of -10 to +75C.

The NX2016AA maximum series ESR (equivalent series resistance) in the frequency range of 24 to 25MHz is 100W, from 25 to 36MHz is 80W, and form 30 to 80MHz is 60W.

The drive level is 50uW and has a standard load capacitance of 8pF.

Applications include mobile phones, Bluetooth, WLAN, Zigbee, and NFC.

The NX2016AA is presented in a lead-free, RoHS conformance package.

The crystals meet the requirements for reflow profiling using lead-free solder.

Standard frequencies include 24.0, 26.0, 27.0, 28.63636, 32.0, and 40.0MHz.

"The NX2016 series is one of the smallest mass-production crystals available in the market".

"Its small size makes it ideal for dense packaging applications, and the low profile (0.45mm with 0.35mm optional) design is a natural for super slim Bluetooth products", says Mike Walczak, President of NDK America.

Cost for 10,000 pieces of the NX2016AA is under US $1.00 and delivery is 8 to 12 weeks.
