The 7311Q is a new series of dual rate-voltage controlled crystal oscillators (DR-VCXOs) for communication systems requiring a dual rate pure frequency signal.

The 7311Q is a new series of dual rate-voltage controlled crystal oscillators (DR-VCXOs) for communication systems requiring a dual rate pure frequency signal.

These DR-VCXOs can be switched from their operating frequencies to the FEC (forward error correction) rate, enabling communication equipment to quickly correct for jitter and re-establish a consistent frequency.

Previously this was done with two separate VCXOs.

The 7311Q series deliver a 622.08MHz/FEC rate (selectable) with a LVPECL complementary output signal.

Standard frequencies include 622.08/644.5313, 622.08/666.5143 and 622.08/669.3266MHz; other frequencies are available on request.

The 7311Q produces a low-jitter pure frequency source, ideal for clock data recovery function in communication systems.

Devices operate on a supply voltage of +3.3V DC, typically consuming only 130mA.

The 7311Q comes in a compact (17.0 x 9.6mm), low-profile (3.9mm height) SMD 6-pin L-lead package.

Devices operate over a wide temperature range of -10 to +70C with a maximum overall stability +/-50ppm.

"The 7311Q DR-VCXO is just one of a complete line of frequency control products for optical communication applications that NDK offers.

This one product replaces two VCXOs, freeing up valuable board space and simplifying the circuit design", said Mike Walczak, President, NDK America.

Cost for the 7311Q in 100-piece quantities is about $65.00 each.

Engineering samples of popular frequencies are available.
