Mazet has released fully functional prototypes of its newly developed fibre-optic cable receivers, which will be available as standard assemblies in larger batches in the second half of the year.

Data transfer via fibre-optic cables offers clear benefits in numerous applications, including the field of automation engineering.

Mazet has fully functional prototypes for a fibre-optic cable receiver suitable for optical data transfer via 980/1000um polymer optical fibres (POF), 200/230um hard-clad silica fibres (HCS), 50/125um gradient index optical fibres or 62.5/125um fibre diameters and single-mode optical fibres measuring 9/125um.

It can be used for wavelengths of 520, 660, 850 and 1300nm at datarates between 0 and 25Mbit/s and so covers virtually the entire range of industrial fieldbus communication.

Its large optical dynamic range of between 0 and -30.2dBm sets it apart from conventional standard receivers.

Also worth mentioning is the considerable extension of the cable lengths that can be achieved, for example, for polymer fibres over 100m (650nm standard LED) and 150m with 520nm LEDs and for multimode optical fibres, over 5000m with 850nm standard LEDs.
