Lanner Electronics has added the EM-9762 to its range of boards designed for intelligent display applications.

This board is equipped with dual onboard Cardbus slots to streamline design and improve reliability by minimising connections.
"The EM-9762 is a prime example of Lanner's sensitivity to evolving market demands", remarked Spencer Chou, Lanner's Associate Vice President of Applied Computing.
"This model supplies an extensive array of components in a compact form to give public and private transport vehicles all the benefits of the latest technologies, including GPS, GPRS, Digital Video Broadcasting and intelligent advertising".
"With an application proposal for this product pending, we believe this platform possesses enormous potential in alleviating traffic problems".
With a VIA Luke 533MHz/1GHz processor at its core, the EM-9762 offers a DDR-SDRAM slot for memory storage and CompactFlash socket for the system OS and additional applications.
Four COM ports support a range of devices specific to public transport vehicles: card scanners for fares, GPS, LED displays, and more.
Furthermore, the onboard Cardbus allows for GPRS and Wi-Fi capabilities allowing for continuous updates on road conditions and automatic application updates when vehicles enter the dispatch station.
The EM-9762 also improves transportation logistics by allowing for the intelligent management of road conditions.
Vehicles equipped with "smart" features can detect their current location via GPS and run advertisements for businesses in the immediate area to offer an even more precise method of advertising.
GPS also allows vehicles to continuously update digital schedules at stops allowing transportation systems to intelligently adapt in real-time to changing traffic conditions.
