Three new RF ICs each offer complete low-power radio system solutions on a single chip, simplifying the design and reducing bill of material costs for customers.

The new transceiver ICs and transmitter IC complement Analog Devices' existing family of ISM (industrial, scientific, and medical) band transmitters (ADF7010, ADF7011) for low-rate wireless connectivity applications.

The ADF7012 is a (VHF/UHF) transmitter IC with 50MHz to 1GHz frequency operation allowing multiple frequency plans to be implemented for transmit applications such as RF remote controls, remote keyless entry and wireless sensor applications.

The ADF7020 and ADF7025 are ISM band transceiver ICs, which operate at bands from 433 to 928MHz, implement complete transceiver solutions with few external components and are suited to wireless video and audio for alarm, sensor, and security systems, automatic meter reading, and remote transducer applications.

"Analog Devices has once again drawn upon its RF integration expertise to build these single chip solutions that make creating wireless links very affordable", said Christian Kermarrec, Vice President, RF and Wireless Systems, Analog Devices.

The ADF7012 is a single-chip, low-power UHF transmitter with 50MHz to 1GHz frequency operation and a fractional-N PLL (phased locked loop) at the core.

It operates at 2.3 to 3.3V with very low current consumption.

An onboard voltage regulator provides stable performance.

The output power is programmable in steps of -16 to +14dBm, with 0.4dB steps.

Datarates supported are up to 150Kbit/s.

Current consumption is 10mA at 315MHz (0dBm).

The ADF7020 is a low-power low-IF transceiver operating in frequency bands from 433 to 464MHz and 868 to 928MHz.

Datarates supported are 0.3 to 200Kbit/s, FSK (frequency shift keying) of 0.3 to 64Kbit/s, and ASK (amplitude shift keying).

It operates on a +2.3 to +3.6V power supply with programmable output power from -16 to +13dBm in 0.3dBm steps.

Its receiver sensitivity is -117.5dBm at 1Kbit/s FSK, -110.5dBm at 9.6Kbit/s FSK, and -106.5dBm at 9.6Kbit/s ASK.

Current consumption is 19mA in receive mode and 22mA in transmit mode (+10dBm output).

Other features include on-chip VCO (voltage controlled oscillator), fractional-N PLL, on-chip 7bit analogue-to-digital convertor, digital received signal strength indication (RSSI), temperature sensor and a +/-1ppm RF output frequency accuracy made possible by its low-cost 100ppm crystal.

Its leakage current is less tan 1uA in power down mode.

The ADF7025 is a low power, zero-IF RF transceiver operating in frequency bands of 433 to 464MHz and 862 to 928MHz.

The ADF7025 is a highly integrated FSK/GFSK (Gaussian frequency shift keying) transceiver designed for compliance with FCC 15.247 specifications.

A complete time division duplex (TDD) or full duplex RF link can be built with a small number of external components making the ADF7025 very suitable for price- and area-sensitive applications.

Combined with the ADF7012 and ADF4106 a complete RF front-end for hybrid 5.8/0.9GHz digital cordless phones can be implemented.

The ADF7012 is sampling now and will be available in production quantities in July 2004.

It is offered in 24-lead TSSOP (thin shrink small outline packaging) and is priced at $1.50 per unit in quantities of 10,000.

The ADF7020 is currently sampling and will be available in production quantities in the fourth quarter of 2004.

It is offered in 48-pin LFCSP (lead frame chip scale packaging) and is priced at $3.99 per unit in quantities of 10,000.

The ADF7025 is currently sampling and will be available in production quantities in the third quarter of 2004.

It is also offered in 48-pin LFCSP and is priced at $3.99 per unit in quantities of 10,000.
