Baseband signal generator for wireless comms
The VB8000 from Yokogawa Martron is a high-performance arbitrary waveform generator for baseband I/Q (in-phase/quadrature) signal generation applications.
The VB8000 from Yokogawa Martron is a high-performance arbitrary waveform generator for baseband I/Q (in-phase/quadrature) signal generation applications verifying wireless LANs, digital satellite broadcasting systems and future generations of mobile telephones.
The new instrument has up to eight channels, allowing it to be used for multiple I/Q signal verification in multi-antenna systems, and differential outputs.
Each channel features an exceptionally long waveform memory of 64Mpoint.
The high-speed clock - up to 100MHz - allows oversampling for maximum signal purity, while the high-resolution 14bit D/A convertor enables the bandwidth to be controlled with high accuracy.
The combination of oversampling and long memory makes it possible to generate the long frames required to simulate wireless LAN protocols and to generate pseudo-noise data for bit error rate testing.
The instrument incorporates a floppy-disk drive and a 10Gbyte hard disk drive, and includes Ethernet, RS232 and IEEE488 interfaces.
A range of wireless utility generation and corresponding analysis software covering standards such as IEEE802.11a, Hiperlan/2 (OFDM), IEEE802.11b (CCK) and 3GPP (W-CDMA) is available for receiver, subsystem and component testing.
