Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) has announced a miniature photocoupler that combines transistor output with extended temperature operation and a high isolation voltage of 5,000V AC rms.

Available in two DIP4 package options, the TLP781 is suitable for a variety of applications, including switching power supplies, home appliances, solid-state relays and office equipment.

It is also suitable for use in controller designs and for applications requiring signal transmission between circuits with different voltages.

Toshiba's photocoupler consists of a GaAs infrared LED that is optically coupled to a phototransistor.

Minimum current transfer ratio is 50 per cent and collector-emitter voltage (VCE) is rated at 80V.

Package options comprise a 7.62mm pitch-type 4-pin DIP package and a 10.16mm pitch-type 4-pin DIP (TLP781F).

Both package options are rated for extended temperature operation between -55 and 110C.

The TLP781 is fully approved by all relevant UL, cUL, BSI, SEMCO and VDE safety standards.
