TFC has introduced the SMTEE4.0 current transformer (CT), the small design of which makes it suited to DC/DC convertors.

This is the second miniature CT available from TFC.

The SMD device is machine mountable, but the EE4.0 cored package is integrated into the coil former, saving space.

Current transformers safely isolate measurement and control circuitry from the high voltages typically present on the circuit being measured.

They are used to monitor alternating current detected at its primary winding and provide a proportional current at its secondary.

With the SMTEE4.0 package, the maximum DC resistance at the primary is 3.0m ohms, while a typical DCR at the secondary is 17 ohms.

The test voltage is 500V AC.
