A new series of surface acoustic wave filters has been designed specifically for front-end selectivity in transmitter or receiver remote keyless entry applications.

NDK has a new series of SAW (surface acoustic wave) filters designed specifically for front-end selectivity in transmitter (Tx) or receiver (Rx) remote keyless entry applications.

They are packaged in miniature 3.8 x 3.8mm hermetically sealed ceramic SMD packages with a maximum height of just 1.2mm, making them small enough to fit into handheld transmitters.

These SAW filters are available in three popular center frequencies 315MHz (WF866B0315CH), 433.92MHz (WF866A0433CH) and 868.35MHz (WF873A0868CK) making them suitable for UHF ISM or SRD applications.

Their low minimum insertion loss, 2.5-3.0dB typical, improves efficiency, and they exhibit excellent out-of-band rejection to protect radio signals.

The SAW filters are extremely stable over their operating temperature range.

The operating temperature range is -40 to +125C for the WF866B0315CH, -40 to +105C for the WF866A0433CH and -40 to +85C for the WF873A0868CK.

These devices are also very tolerant to hostile environments.

Applications for these SAW filters include automotive keyless entries or immobilisers as well as building security systems.

"Remote keyless entry systems have become a standard feature in mass marketed automobiles".

"These miniature SAW filters can withstand the rigorous automotive environmental requirements and provide front end selectivity for the receiver", said Mike Walczak, President, NDK America.

Delivery for the WF866A0433CH series is 12 weeks.

Cost for 10,000 pieces of the WF866A0433CH packaged on tape and reel is approximately $1.00 each.

Qualified engineering samples may be ordered at no cost.

Complete technical data and application engineering support are available.
