NDK Crystal and NDK America have officially opened their new Belvidere, Illinois facility.
NDK Crystal and NDK America have officially opened their new Belvidere, Illinois facility.
This 5500m2 facility will house the executive and sales functions for North and South America.
There is also a design centre and warehouse to support all customers in the Americas.
The manufacturing side features a 24m tower to house eight new autoclaves for producing synthetic quartz crystals.
Each autoclave weighs 75t, is over 15m long and over 1m in diameter.
Approximately 250 people attended the Grand Opening celebration on 12th September 2003.
These included customers, local and state government officials, NDK Japan, NDK's sales representatives, Kajima Construction and industry contacts.
The programme included an invocation from Reverend Westlund, speeches by Belvidere Mayor Brereton, NDK Chairman, Mr T Takeuchi, and NDK Crystal and NDK America President Mike Walczak.
A ceremonial cask breaking (Kagami-Biraki) symbolised good luck and prosperity for everyone.
Walczak presented awards to Kajima Construction Services, for the building of the facility, Kajima Associates for the excellent design of the facility, and EPSI which was instrumental in the design of the autoclaves and their control systems.
"Having so many of our friends join us to mark the inauguration of this great new facility, made today truly special", said Mike Walczak, NDK President.
