CSR has appointed Richard Ord as Vice President of the company's Bluetooth Business Unit.

CSR has appointed Richard Ord as Vice President of the company's Bluetooth Business Unit.

As a former VP at VLSI Technology and Philips Semiconductor, Ord brings to CSR his extensive international experience in business unit management with strategy development and implementation in the wireless arena.

His first challenge at CSR is to build a team of experts able to adopt the company's leading Bluetooth systems solutions into ever more innovative products as the standard becomes the technology of choice for short-range wireless applications.

Ord established his credentials in the semiconductor industry at Texas Instruments where he managed the memory and ASIC business in Northern Europe, and later worked in sales supporting the UK network channels.

He then moved to VLSI Technology, where he earned a reputation for a dynamic, innovative approach to business leadership.

As a founder of the Wireless Products Division in Munich, and then Sophia Antipolis, he grew revenues from zero to over US $300 million, establishing the market leadership that attracted Philips Semiconductor to acquire VLSI in 1999.

During his tenure as CEO of Vulcan Machines, Ord was also responsible for introducing a clear business strategy and structuring the company's approach to next stage investment.

Ord commented: "CSR has already achieved a great deal, culminating in its recent record IPO and strong share performance".

"My role at CSR will be to ensure that the company continues to grow as a world leader in wireless devices, delivering innovative solutions for Bluetooth and other wireless standards, and adapting its approach to accommodate future growth and success".
