The Adam 7000 family of products from Advantech is designed to provide Ethernet control in a wide range of industrial automation applications.

The Adam 7000 family of products from Advantech is designed to provide Ethernet control in a wide range of industrial automation applications.

The product range, which includes distributed multifunction controllers, communications modules, display modules and a choice of I/O modules, enables real-time control of processes, and has the ability to be remotely programmed and debugged via LAN or modem.

Targeted at the factory automation market, the Adam 7500 distributed multi-function controller can be combined with products from Advantech's established Adam 4000 and 5000 series as well as Adam 7000 modules.

The unit is able to provide high-speed control in applications such as the linking of remote warehouses to production lines.

Key specification features include a typical application program execution time of 0.33ms on 100% of discrete instruction, configurable digital I/O, four built in high-speed counters and a perpetual calendar.

A rugged and safe CE approved design makes the unit suitable for use in harsh environment applications such as reactors and furnaces.

Adam 7510 has the same basic functions as Adam 7500, with the additional ability to interface with encoders and motor drivers to provide two-axis motion control.

The Adam 7090 and Adam 7095 communications modules provide serial port and Ethernet communications respectively.

The Adam7090 provides a single RS485 port and two RS232 ports.

It is able to operate at speeds of 600bit/s to 614.4Kbit/s with either LRC (longitudinal redundancy check) or CRC-16 (cyclic redundancy check).

The unit uses Advantech ASCII or BIN code and Modbus/RTU protocols.

The Adam 7095 meanwhile, has a single 10BaseT port an IEEE802.3, and two RS232/RS485 serial ports.

It is able to use either UDP or TCP protocols and supports up to eight multi-server connections (Modbus/TCP).

A range of 13 I/O modules provides the system designer with numerous options to best meet the needs of their application.

Included in the line up are digital input, relay input, mixed digital input/output, plus analogue input and output devices.

Numerous additional features are incorporated to make the use and update of Adam 7000 modules both quick and easy.

These features include: free-of-charge development software, support for Microsoft 95/98/2000/NT/ME, a windows based programming tool and the ability to import/export from Excel and Word.
