TDK's RLF series of low-profile, high-efficiency SMD power inductors feature EMI shielding and ultralow DC resistance.

Abacus Polar is helping designers reduce power consumption and space requirements in powerline applications, by introducing TDK's RLF series of low-profile, high-efficiency SMD power inductors.

The new TDK inductors, primarily designed for use in DC convertors and power conversion applications, feature EMI shielding and ultralow DC resistance.

RLF power inductors are ideal for battery-power management circuit applications and offer major advantages over typical wire wound-style inductors.

Latest in the range are the 5018 type - compact and with low DC resistance to save power consumption in portable devices such as laptop PCs and PDAs.

Space-saving dimensions of 5.5 x 5.2 x 2.05mm result from the inductors' optimal magnetic core structure, with rectangular wire used to maximise current density by efficient use of the winding area, ensuring low resistance and high maximum current.

Inductance values for the 5018 family range from 1.5 to 33uH, with resistance from 20 to 210mohm and maximum current ratings 0.51 to 2.4A.

Other devices in the RLF series feature a 12.8 x 12.5mm footprint with heights of 4.7 or 6.0mm, providing inductances from 1 to 10uH and current capability up to 18.5A.

Samples and production quantities are available now from Abacus Polar.
