Tyco Electronics has introduced two key components in the the Amp Netconnect XGA copper cabling system.

The Amp-Twist 6AS SL Jack combines easy and quick termination with high transmission, while the XGA line of copper-patch cords deliver performance beyond 600MHz.

The Tyco Electronics OM4 based fibre-optic cable meets the forthcoming specifications of the international ISO/IEC 11801 cabling standard.

The Amp-Twist Category 6A connecting hardware and is fully compliant to component definitions in the upcoming ISO/IEC 11801 cabling standard.

The jack, when connected to the XGA copper-patch cords, creates short-link capabilities for distances of less than 2m.

The Amp Netconnect XGA fibre system cable portfolio has been expanded by the addition of a range of cables constructed using OM4-fibre cores in order to meet additional length or cross-connect requirements in data centres and building backbones.

OM4 fibre cables are backwards compatible with all existing applications and fibre definitions.

They are optimised for use with 850nm VCSELs (vertical cavity surface emitting lasers) and offer extended link lengths for applications including 10Gb Ethernet (550m).
