Microdot Connectors, a brand of Tyco Electronics, is a leader in the manufacture of precision interconnect devices for a variety of speciality markets that encompass space satellites, secure field communications, missiles, battlefield gear, instrumentation and avionics.
From standard Mil-Spec configurations and Space Approval to custom connector designs, the range covers Micro-D MIL-PRF-83513, microminiature, coaxial, custom hermetic and cylindrical connector needs.
Microdot Connectors maintains total integration of the manufacturing process, all under one roof, to guarantee the shortest possible turn-around times.
A key competence is the ability to offer value added cable assembly expertise from build to print assemblies to complete turnkey assembly program management.
Adhering to microminiature connector standards, MCK and MCD high-density microminiature D connectors comprise a complete connector system, which is adaptable to an infinite variety of form factors.
Low engaging force is achieved through the use of Twist/Con twist pin contacts.
By constructing the male contact as a breathing helical spring, electrical contact is achieved at many points around the periphery of the pin bundle rather than at a few discrete points.
The original 24 gauge ultra-reliable contact, Twist/Con twist pins provide eight or nine points of contact, uses gold over nickel plating and is space qualified.
Microdot connectors are also offered with No-Twist pin contacts, which are precision stamped to provide four equally spaced points of contact.
These contacts use BeCu or Gold over nickel plating.
HDSM connectors meet MIL-PRF-83513 requirements and are designed for surface mount or through-hole board mount, wire-to-wire, flex circuit and panel mount applications.
Available in 38, 76, 120, 152, 200, 304 and 400 positions in four 0.050 inch spacing, the connectors feature low force Twist/Con twist pin contacts and are available in optional hybrid versions of coax, power and signal.
MSM surface-mount connectors, represent another example of the extensive Microdot connector range.
Featuring a very low profile, the connectors meet MIL-PRF-83513 requirements and are available in 37, 74 and 111 positions.
MSM connectors also have a high resistance for vapour phase soldering.
