Sunpower's waterproof CLG and PLN power supplies offer a reliable choice for demanding LED lighting applications.

These UL1310 Class 2 power units feature environmental protection over extended temperatures, wide input and output voltage ranges for international use, and support for most LED types and installation designs.

Built-in active power-factor correction and high operating efficiency minimise users' energy costs and carbon footprint.

The IP67-rated CLG series is protected against dust and can survive immersion to 1m depth.

Within its metal case, the unit is enclosed in a silicone compound with high thermal conductivity.

This ensures excellent heat redistribution, eliminates hot spots and contributes to the -30 to +70C operating temperature rating; it also protects against mechanical shock and vibration in mobile and other rugged applications.

The IP64-rated PLN series is suitable for less demanding applications.

It has a fully isolated plastic case that protects against dust and is resistant to sprayed water.

The unit has an operating temperature range of -30 to +50C.

The reliability of both units is enhanced by free air-convection cooling, without the need for fans.

The units' universal 90-264V AC 50/60Hz input voltage range facilitates their use globally; this is supported by their international certification, which in addition to UL1310 Class 2 includes TUV EN60950-1 Class 2, UL879 (SAM List), CAN/CSA-C22.2 and all appropriate EN EMC approvals.

Both the CLG and PLN series can be operated in either constant current limiting mode for simple, direct connection to LED arrays or in constant voltage mode using ballast resistors or driver ICs.

Voltage outputs ranging from 12 to 48V DC can be specified to cater for all known LED lighting types.

Both units allow a cold start inrush current of up to 40A at 230V AC.

Both provide overload protection with auto-recovery, over voltage and over-temperature protection.

The current protection level in some units is user adjustable.

These units have environmental and electrical protection features, which provide reliability even when operated on or near full load.

They undergo 100 per cent full load burn-in testing and have an MTBF greater than 300,000 hours.

Indoor, outdoor and mobile applications for the CLG and PLN series include street lighting, architectural lighting, bus stops, street signs and bus-destination displays, stage and theatre lighting, bathroom showers and outside broadcast vans.

The supplies' rugged, high-reliability design has also taken them into demanding 'always on' applications such as CCTV surveillance in areas such as building sites, railway track-sides and station platforms.
