The TSSJ 5 is a five-direction surface-mount switch that needs a board area of just 7.4 x 7.4mm and which features a total height of only 4.5mm.
The latest device from Knitter Switch will interest designers looking for a multifunction joystick with a very low profile.
The TSSJ 5 is a five-direction surface-mount switch that needs a board area of just 7.4 x 7.4mm and which features a total height of only 4.5mm.
The TSSJ 5 is lead free and, thanks to its LCP material base, is also lead free solderable.
It features a contact rating of 12V DC at 50mA, a maximum contact resistance of 100mohm and an operating temperature range of -20 to +70C.
Storage temperature range is between -40 and +85C.
With operating forces between 3.2N for the centre and 1.6N for each of the four directions, Knitter Switch claims a minimum life for the TSSJ 5 of 100,000 cycles.
Applications are for this new switch will include industrial control, instrumentation, consumer and home automation products.
"Designers are facing increasing pressure to reduce the size of new products while increasing functionality and meeting the latest legislation", comments Terry Moss, General Sales Manager for Knitter Switch UK.
"This new switch can replace five existing switches or be designed in to new products for multifunction operations and is fully RoHS compliant".
Knitter Switch TSSJ 5 switches are available from stock and from a number of distributors throughout Europe.
