GL Communications has released its enhanced OC-3/STM-1 Analyser for testing Sonet and SDH signals.

Vijay Kulkarni, chief executive officer of the company said: 'The Ultra OC-3 / STM-1 Card plugs into a PCI PC expansion slot for analysing, testing, simulating and monitoring OC-3 / STM-1 and STS-1 / STM-0 signals.

'The Card can add and drop T1, E1, T3, STS-1/STM-0 and bulk-filled signals to and from an OC-3/STM-1 signal or T1 and E1 signals to and from an STS-1/STM-0 signal.

'The card can also generate BERT patterns, internally in all framing modes and perform stress test and performance analysis.

'SDH and Sonet alarms can be monitored and logged in real time.' He added: 'Accompanying Windows NT/2000/XP software affords easy operation.

Sonet/SDH Alarm generation, Error injection and detection capability, overhead monitoring features and its full compatibility with GL's T1, E1 and T3 test products, makes GL's Ultra OC-3/STM-1 Analyser a complete Sonet and SDH testing solution.

'It is ideally suited for installation, maintenance, commissioning, verification and manufacturing of Sonet/SDH transport networks and network equipments.

'Scripting enhancement to GL's OC-3/STM-1 Analyser was added to provide automation and remoting capabilities to the OC-3/STM-1 analysis platform.

The client-server framework provides a flexible and extensible solution for the varied testing needs of our customers.

'This enhancement will enable - in addition to providing the capability for automation and remoting - the development of customised automation clients through API level integration.

'The client-server application helps configuring SDH and Sonet parameters, signal mapping, transmit and receive BERT, error insertion and verification, secondary signal (T1/E1/T3/STS-1), and alarms setting and retrieving.'.
