Avalue, a member of the Intel Embedded Alliance, has released the EPI-QM57: a next-generation Intel Core I7 processor-based Epic computing board.

The platform is based on Intel's 32nm process technology and features a two-chip platform that integrates the Northbridge chip with the central-processing unit.

The company's EPI-QM57 Epic module is claimed to provide a high performance but a low TDP.

Utilising the low-voltage Intel Core I7-620LE processor or the ultra-low-voltage Intel Core I7-620UE processor (featuring Intel Turbo Boost and Intel Hyper-Threading technologies, as well as on-processor graphics and hardware acceleration for the Advanced Encryption Standard), the EPI-QM57 supports one 204-pin DDR3 SODIMM (non-ECC) up to 4Gb SDRAM.

Various display input/output (I/O) configurations are supported, including DVI, dual-channel 18-/24-bit LVDS, VGA (co-lay with DVI) and dual-display configurations.

The I/O and expandability of the EPI-QM57 supports four sets of SATA, one set of EIDE, two sets of COM, eight sets of USB 2.0 ports, 8-bit GPIO and one external CF socket.

It also provides one set of PCIe x1 and one optional 34mm express card slot for expansions, such as wireless connectivity, video capture or extra storage; a built-in touch screen interface that allows an interactive panel PC setup; and two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces for faster and more flexible connection.

Intel Active Management Technology 6.0 enables remote networking manageability for monitoring and communication between the server and the end user, offering an optimised system management capability even if the power is off.

Raid levels zero, one, five and 10 are supported to improve storage performance functions.

The EPI-QM57 is suitable for a range of applications, including medical instruments, point-of-sale/kiosk machines, digital signage, surveillance devices, automation controllers and military systems.

Avalue's EPI-QM57 is compatible with Microsoft Win7/7e/XP/XPe/Vista, Wepos and Linux operating systems.
