Multifunction card increases embedded integration

The PCM-3718HO is a multifunction card with a PC/104 interface, 16 analogue inputs, one analogue output, two 8bit digital I/O channels and a free counter function.
New from Advantech, the PCM-3718HO is a multifunction card with a PC/104 interface, 16 analogue inputs, one analogue output, two 8bit digital I/O channels and a free counter function.
Advantech reckons such a broad range of functions available in a single PC/104 card is a significant breakthrough, and will be appreciated by embedded systems developers with demanding space requirements.
Using the compact PC/104 form factor, the card enables an increased level of integration and can be fitted in smaller systems such as the UNO-2160 embedded industrial PC.
"The PC/104 form factor is suitable for system integrators that needs more functions in less space, like machine makers", said Richard Yu, Product Manager at Advantech.
"PCM-3718HO covers many of the functions commonly needed in machine automation, so we think this product will be well received by our customers".
The PCM-3718HO has a flexible configuration for its analogue inputs.
The 16 analogue input channels can be configured to give 16 single-ended or eight differential channels, and has 12bit resolution.
Moreover, PCM-3718HO also comes with a sampling rate up to 100Ksample/s and an extra counter function, so the card offers powerful addon functions to an embedded system application.
Automatic channel-scanning allows for different gain for each channel with faster data processing speed, and the onboard SRAM features multiple A/D channel conversion with DMA, and individual channel gains.
The programmable gain value and selectable input range can provide more flexibility.
