Latest member of high performance 32bit MB91460 microcontroller family incorporates features supporting a wide range of automotive systems

Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe (FME) has added a new member to its high performance 32bit MB91460 microcontroller family. Designed through close co-operation between European customers and Fujitsu's European Microcontroller Design Centre (EMDC) in Langen, near Frankfurt, it incorporates features supporting a wide range of automotive systems, such as body and chassis systems, as well as industrial applications.

Today's control systems require flexible timer architectures with the capability of generating high precision output signals a requirement.

The real-time capturing of signals and events is also an important consideration.

To address these needs, the MB91F464A microcontroller provides eight free-running timers, which act as a timebase for eight ICU and six OCU modules, eight reload timers, 12 channels of 16bit PPG and a real-time clock module that can operate on the 4MHz main crystal, or on the 32kHz subclock.

For communication and networking, this microcontroller offers a C-CAN, I2C-bus, and five LIN-USARTs.

The on-chip PLL creates an internal operating frequency of up to 80MHz and can use a clock modulator to improve EMC behaviour.

Other features include a fast 21-channel A/D convertor, 416Kbyte of embedded Flash memory that features protected read-out and 16Kbyte of embedded RAM.

On-chip prefetch and five channels of DMA are included to ensure best possible performance.

The microcontroller comes in an RoHS-compliant 100-pin QFP package and functions over the operating temperature range of -40 to +105C covering a supply voltage range of 3 to 5.5V.

Engineering samples will become available in Q4 2006 and will be accompanied by a full set of development tools such as starter kits, hardware- and software-debugger including OSEK operating system support.
