Abacus Polar is offering a complete platform for in-vehicle infomatics, using a new implementation of a cutting edge 32bit microcontroller specified for automotive applications in combination with a new Java-enabled GSM/GPRS module configured for in-vehicle use, or a highly compact GPS module.

The TC1912 is a new member of Infineon's family of telematics gateway/audio processing controllers, with an integrated TwinCAN controller, an optional Bluetooth stack, and an additional ASC (UART) to fit it for use as the hub processor in automotive integrated and modular subsystems.

Siemens TC45 GSM/GPRS module is a 'ready-to-go' network-qualified RF module, featuring integrated J2MET based Java technology to simplify application development.

Combined, these two devices can form the core of navigation equipment, radios, fleet management systems, vehicle telemetry and telematics boxes, providing the basis for applications such as Internet, emergency and breakdown calls and stolen vehicle tracking.

With its optimised CPU performance and the provided standard and communication peripheral set including ASC (UART), SSC/SPI, IIC, IIS and a 14bit speech codec the TC1912 expands Infineon's TriCore-based telematics and infotainment controller family targeted for automotive applications such as hands free car kits and voice control applications.

The award-winning unified 32bit TriCore architecture combines RISC, CISC and DSP functionality in a single core.

An integrated high-performance audio codec enables embedded speech processing functions such as acoustic echo cancellation and noise reduction without the need of additional external components.

The TC1912 is a functional subset of the existing TC1920 telematics controller, providing full software compatibility and access to the broad range of available middleware software and drivers.

Key software packages available for the TriCore based TC19xx family include Bluetooth stacks and profiles, MP3 decoding algorithm, voice and GPS data processing etc.

Easily integrated to the Infineon processor via a standard AT command set, the new Siemens TC45 GSM/GPRS module from Abacus Polar offers the developer high-speed wireless data transfer without needing to get involved in the complexity of RF design or cellular network approvals.

GSM and GPRS technology from Siemens has been fully type approved and is qualified for all leading network carriers and their network infrastructures.

A key feature of the TC45 is the Java development environment, enabling easy and quick integration and testing of application software.

The GSM/GPRS module is ultra-compact, with a profile of just 3.5mm, and weighs just 10g.

Integrated features include hands-free support, a freely configurable telephone book, and low power consumption.

Tyco Electronics'A1025 self-contained GPS receiver with strong application support is available from Abacus Polar as a pick and place SMD component at very low cost.

Features include an incredibly compact 29.9 x 29.5 x 7mm form factor, and compatibility with PLCC 84 socket.

A new version, designated as 1029, is due for September launch with smaller dimensions (22 x 27 x 3mm) and lower power consumption.

Both the 1025 and the 1029 are ST20-GP7 based and NMEA compatible.

The Infineon TC1912 was released in February 2003 and is available now.

Tyco's A1025 GPS module is available now.

The Siemens TC45 Java is to be released in July 2003, but the MC45 triband GPRS class 10 is in full production.
