Yokogawa will demonstrate a number of new developments in the field of 40Gbit/s optical device and transmission technology at ECOC 2006.

At ECOC 2006, Yokogawa will demonstrate a number of new developments in the field of 40Gbit/s optical device and transmission technology, including a novel InP HBT (hetero-junction bipolar transistor) and a live demonstration of the latest OCX (optical circuit exchange) featuring an original semiconductor optical switch.

Also featured are optical packet network technologies and a number of new modules and subsystems including a newly developed burst-mode CDR (clock data recovery) subsystem unit.

The Test and Measurement Division of Yokogawa Europe is also showing a number of new products, following the integration of the optical communications test business of the former Ando Electric Company into Yokogawa's Communication and Measurement division, which has now been completed.

Being shown for the first time at a European exhibition is the new AQ6370 high-resolution optical spectrum analyser, which supports free space monochromator input and is suited to both laboratory and manufacturing applications.

The new instrument combines high sweep speed with high signal sensitivity, and its wide wavelength range from 600 to 1700nm makes it suited to telecommunications testing as well as general optical applications.

Also featured are the low-polarisation-dependency high-speed sampling power meters as well as the extremely stable DFB-LD (distributed feedback laser diode) sources in the AQ2200 Series multi-application test system.

This instrument family is designed for optical measurements in R and D and in the manufacture of optical components.

Yokogawa is also showing a new triple-wavelength measurement module as well as completely restructured emulation software for the company's AQ7260 optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR).

The AQ7265S1 triple-wavelength module offers single mode fibre measurements at 1310, 1550 and 1625nm, and is ideally suited to meet the needs of fibre installers in the growing fibre-optic market.
