Now available from Yokogawa Martron, the Mobiwave D10 is a low-cost nonintrusive Bluetooth protocol analyser that is designed to test to see if equipment is performing to design standards without interfering with network traffic.

The nonintrusive test capability is crucial in monitoring the communication status across a network, as Bluetooth performs master/slave interactions and uses frequency hopping to reduce noise effects and maintain data security.

Costing only one-third the price of any existing nonintrusive protocol analyser with equivalent capabilities, the Mobiwave D10 is capable of analysing the baseband and upper layers.

The user interface allows synchronisation and data capture to be easily performed, and powerful analysis and display software allows each layer to be examined in detail.

Captured information is relayed to a host PC via an Ethernet connection in real time, allowing remote logging and equipment sharing.

The network interface supports both stand-alone and LAN configurations.

An audio extension module allows audio data extracted from SCO packets to be played back or stored in PCM Wave or CVSD format.

This offers an easy way of verifying audio-related problems like echo, static noise and battery power consumption for developers working on headset, handset, audio gateway or telephony products.

A sophisticated search and filtering engine allows developers to focus on the problem area quickly and easily, with error-detection and statistical analysis features providing instant information on the quality of the devices under test and the surrounding environment.

The Mobiwave D10 automatically computes the link key during a pairing or bonding session, and can decrypt Bluetooth wireless encrypted data in real time.

A network extension module supports BNEP, allowing network encapsulated data to be exported for viewing and analysis by software such as Ethereal or Analyzer.

The instrument supports Bluetooth protocol layers including L2CAP, SDP, TCS, RFCOMM, AT, HDLC, PPP, OBEX, BNEP, HCRP and HID.
