The QBK033 series bus convertor is the industry's first 400W quarter-brick power module designed for high-power high-density applications.

The QBK033 series bus convertor is the industry's first 400W quarter-brick power module designed for high-power high-density applications.

This advanced technology is an ideal choice for intermediate bus architecture in enterprise equipment, data processing equipment and server and storage applications.

The QBK033 series is a semiregulated unit that produces an exceptional efficiency of 94% and power density of 288W/in2 (18W/cm3) for a 400W, quarter-brick power module.

It has an input voltage range of 36-60V DC and is able to deliver up to 33A of output current.

Its nominal output voltage is 12V DC with overall line, load and temperature regulation of only +/-5%.

The convertor can reach a high capacitive load of up to 10,000uF while exhibiting very low output ripple and noise, and responding rapidly to sudden load changes.

For example, a 25% load change will only cause a voltage deviation of -2%.

The QBK033 convertor employs a full-bridge conversion topology with synchronous rectification on the secondary and incorporates edge-plating and innovative packaging technology to achieve superior thermal performance.

With an industry standard quarter-brick pin out of 57.9 x 36.8 x 10.6mm, the QBK DC/DC bus convertor operates over wide temperature range of -40 to +85C.

It is also fully compliant with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive (200/95/EC).

Standard features of the QBK033 series include positive remote on/off logic, input undervoltage, output overvoltage, output overcurrent and overtemperature protections.

Other optional features include negative remote on/off logic, basic insulation, nonlatching version of overcurrent and overtemperature protection, active current share, base plate, and case ground pin.

"I am excited that Tyco Electronics is introducing the industry's first 400W quarter-brick bus convertor for high-power applications", said Sabi Varma, Vice President, Marketing and R and D, at Tyco Electronics Power Systems.

"We are committed to developing innovative products that will bring process improvement and cost savings to our customers".

"Major OEMs will design their next-generation boards using the QBK033 module".

The QBK033 module is priced at $56.87 in 1000-unit quantities and targets enterprise data customers.
