Murata Power Solutions has introduced two series of isolated 1W DC/DC converters.

The single-output MEV and dual-output MEA series are the high-performance versions of the company's NMV and NMA series.

With efficiency levels from 84 per cent, an improvement of 10 per cent on existing products, the MEV and MEA series respond to the current industry emphasis on minimising power usage.

Improved load regulation performance of <5 per cent makes the DC/DC converters well- suited for use in applications where output voltage variation cannot be tolerated.

The overall load regulation tolerance envelope has been reduced from 17.5 to 9 per cent.

The MEV series is suitable for providing local supplies on control system boards, with the added benefit of 3kV DC galvanic isolation to reduce switching noise.

The MEA series has 1kV DC isolation, and is effective for providing dual-rail supplies.

Supplied in a UL 94V-0 industry-standard pin-out SIP 7 package, measuring 19.5mm x 6mm x 10mm high, the RoHS-compliant MEV and MEA series have a power density of 0.85W/cm3.

Both ranges offer input voltages of either 5V or 12V; output voltages range from 5V to 15V.

The fully encapsulated design uses toroidal magnetics, ceramic substrates and capacitors.

No external components are required.

The MEV and MEA series offer -40 to +85C temperature performance at full 1W load, with free air convection cooling.
