Semiconductor suppliers like Motorola, the leader in powertrain microcontrollers, are responding to these requirements with more powerful, highly integrated micros".
The MPC5500 allows mechanical functions, such as knock and misfire detection, to be moved to software.
This provides Visteon the flexibility to support multiple customer requirements without additional ASIC support and will help Visteon react more quickly to changing customer requirements.
Motorola's MPC5500 family provides a migration path from the MPC500 series, addressing future automotive application requirements.
By creating this transition, Motorola helps customers preserve and leverage previous investments, helping ensure the long-term sustainability of their products based on existing MPC500 devices.
Motorola offers a comprehensive suite of hardware and software development tools for the MPC5500 family to help simplify and speed development cycles and time to market.
