Development kit combines all the necessary components and tools to develop a full product based on NXP's ARM7-powered MCU

IAR Systems has announced the IAR Advanced Development Kit for LPC2148. This is the second in the recently launched family of full product development kits, and the first that targets an ARM7 device. This new IAR Advanced Development Kit (ADK) has been designed to offer all the necessary components for professional product development and debugging on the LPC2148 microcontroller from NXP.

The integrated package offers an ideal entry point for high-level developers, and enables a seamless migration for developers already familiar with NXP MCUs and with the intuitive IAR Embedded Workbench integrated development environment (IDE).

The IAR Advanced Development Kit for LPC2148 comprises a BaseLine version of IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM, with 512Kbyte code generation capability and support for the LPC2100 family of MCUs from NXP; an IAR development board fitted with a LPC2148FBD64 device; an IAR J-Trace ETM/trace probe with 2Mbyte trace buffer; a trace cable and JTAG USB cable.

The availability of trace debugging through ETM offers the benefit of being able to trace bugs that are difficult to detect by other means, and thus speeds the development of more complex applications that are enabled by the ARM7 core.

The NXP LPC2148 microcontroller is based on a 32bit ARM7TDMI-S CPU with real-time emulation and embedded trace support, and is combined with embedded 512Kbyte high-speed flash memory with ISP/IAP and 10bit ADC and DAC.

The compact sise and low power consumption of the LPC2148 makes it ideal for miniaturised applications such as access control and point-of-sale as well as communications, voice recognition, low-end imaging, industrial control and medical systems.

Serial communications interfaces that include a USB 2.0 full-speed device, multiple UARTs, SPI, SSP and I2C-bus, are featured.

Additional specifications include on-chip SRAM of 40Kbyte, of which 8Kbyte is shared with the USB DMA, PWM channels and 45 fast GPIO lines.

The IAR ADK family allows the developer ready access to efficient and advanced development methodologies, including trace debugging, without the disadvantage of meeting the cost of each tool component separately.

The ADK-LPC2148-R2T is competitively priced at around Eur 4400 or US $5320, and is available now.
