IAR Systems reckons that its integrated development environment, the IAR Embedded Workbench, is the first independent tool to support the new ARM Cortex-M1 processor
IAR Embedded Workbench for AVR32 was originally developed in parallel with the AVR32 architecture to ensure that the interaction between hardware and generated code would fully utilise the advanced features of the core. It makes full use of the single-cycle load/store and DSP instructions in the AVR32 UC core, and together with the intelligent optimisations in the compiler the result is a minimum of required memory storage space and excellent per-cycle throughput.
An IAR KickStart Kit that includes a code-size-limited compiler version of IAR Embedded Workbench for AVR32, along with a development board featuring a UC3A MCU and an evaluation version of the Express Logic ThreadX RTOS, is already available for purchase.
The KickStart Kit includes all the necessary components to begin developing code for Atmel's new UC3A series of microcontrollers.
The AVR32 UC core is a general-purpose microprocessor core based on the 32bit AVR32 architecture, and has been developed to provide a very high throughput and high MIPS per watt, even at lower clock cycles - an approach that is particularly power efficient.
IAR Embedded Workbench for AVR32 will offer embedded systems developers a professional tool package for the UC3 that respects code size constraints and provides an exceptional level of professional technical support.
