The Centellis CO 3000 from Force Computers is a CompactPCI system designed to meet network equipment building systems (NEBS) Level 3 testing for central office and similar requirements

Powered by either Force's CPCI-735 or CPCI-550 single board computer, the Centellis CO 3000 offers very high performance Pentium III 700MHz or UltraSPARC-IIe 500MHz processor capability from the embedded roadmap of Intel or Sun Microsystems, respectively. This 3U five-slot 19in rack-mount also features Force's award-winning Sentinel "universal-mode" PCI-to-PCI bridge (PPB) technology for CompactPCI system or peripheral slot functionality.

The Centellis CO 3000 offers an ideal entry-level platform for small-footprint CompactPCI requirements, is H.110 computer telephony (CT) bus-compatible system and provides a flexible, reliable embedded Windows 2000/ Solaris 8 operating system (OS) ready solution in a cost-effective PC-size form-factor.

The NEBS Level 3 design meets the requirements for network firewall security, media servers/gateways, digital subscriber line (DSL) concentration, Internet protocol (IP) over satellite, video-on-demand services, medical diagnostic GUIs and other applications in need of ruggedised central office-quality operation.

The Centellis CO 3000 platform has alarm control and monitoring functionality, redundant cooling with dual independent hot-swappable fan trays and an innovative mass storage module (MSM) concept that features: up to 1Gbyte ECC-protected SDRAM (option to 2Gbyte); up to four 10/100 Ethernet interfaces; multiple storage options - hard disk drive, floppy, CD-ROM; full hot swap compliance (PICMG 2.1, R2.0); IPMI system management support (PICMG 2.9); an Optional 64bit local bus for Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel or other high-bandwidth data-intensive I/O; an Optional 23in rack-mount adapter; and Derivative configurations for tailor-made solutions.

With universal-mode capability, Sentinel chip-based SBCs can operate in any CompactPCI slot, allowing a platform to be populated with many SBCs, which can "talk" to each other through the CompactPCI backplane.

It supports industry requirements to build scalable systems for confined spaces.

Large memory buffers allow data transfers across the CompactPCI bus without interruptions that can slow performance.

Full Hot Swap support enables the creation of zero-downtime, highly available solutions and allows SBC insertion/removal from a running system without the need to reboot.
