Cocir and Environ sign MoU on Reach and EuP
EU healthcare trade association Cocir and environmental consultancy Environ have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on environmental policy.
Environ and Cocir expanded their partnership to include the Energy Using Products Directive (EuP) and Reach and RoHS compliance.
This built on their previous collaborations on the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment (Weee) directives.
Reach substance declaration requirements are placing pressure on the electronics supply chain to disclose information on hazardous substances.
The first Reach Candidate List of 15 substances was announced on 9 October and was published at the end of that month.
All manufacturers and suppliers must now comply with the substance disclosure requirements.
Cocir and Environ's co-operation includes a new web application, Bomcheck, to reduce the costs of Reach and RoHS compliance by compiling a centralised master database of substance declarations from suppliers.
