Axiomtek unveils SBC86850 Mini ITX motherboard

Axiomtek has released the SBC86850 high-end graphic Mini ITX motherboard based on the Mobile Intel GM45 Express chipset with the ATI Radeon HD2400 (ATI M72) graphic chip on board.

This space-saving Mini ITX motherboard is designed for graphics-intensive applications such as high-end medical imaging, digital signage, kiosks/POI, thin clients and gaming machines.

The SBC86850 incorporates a socket P Intel Core2 Duo Mobile Penryn processor with a 667/800/1066MHz FSB.

It supports a dual-channel DDR2 SODIMM SDRAM socket with up to 4Gb system memory.

With an onboard ATI Radeon HD2400 graphic core, the SBC86850 offers 3D/2D graphics and a high-speed dual-view capability, according to the company.

The SBC86850 is based on the ATI Radeon HD2400 graphic core with onboard 128Mb video memory.

Axiomtek claims that the ATI Radeon HD2400 - with support for DirectX 10 graphics, Shader Model 4.0 and OpenGL2.0 - provides a level of visual experience.

The dual-view display can be implemented by VGA and DVI connectors or LVDS and DVI connectors.

This Mini ITX SBC features Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2, which is designed to enhance platform security.

Joseph Chou, product manager of the Embedded Computing Platforms business unit, said: 'Powered by the Intel Core2 Duo Mobile Penryn processor with the Mobile Intel GM45 Express chipset, the SBC86850 is the ideal choice for embedded solutions that require low power and scalability.

'In addition to [being] performance rich, Axiomtek's SBC86850 - featuring ATI Radeon HD2400 graphic core - is suitable for high-resolution display solutions, such as gaming, POS, DSA and medical healthcare,' he added.

With a compact 6.7in x 6.7in (17cm x 17cm) size, the SBC86850 features rich connectivity, including eight USB 2.0 ports, two serial ATA ports, digital input/output (I/O), four powered COM ports (RS-232), dual-gigabit local-area network (LAN), high-definition audio and one Compactflash socket.

One PCIe x4 slot is available for system expansion.

Windows Vista, Windows XP Embedded and Linux are all supported.

A watchdog timer is included, which is intended to keep the system running smoothly.
