Austria Microsystems reveals UHF RFID reader ICs

Austria Microsystems has developed the Simply Gen 2 range of AS3990/91 UHF RFID reader ICs.

The Simply Gen 2 is a single-chip, EPC Class 1 Gen 2 UHF reader IC, including an EPC Class 1 Gen 2 protocol engine, and is available with an integrated PA to further reduce the bill of materials (BOM).

The Gen 2 UHF reader IC provides a high level of integration, low power consumption and a low-cost BOM.

The AS3990/91 allows a fast time to market for customers by allowing them to focus more time on their IP and less time on a Gen 2 implementation.

Its programmable features allow a single SKU that is shippable worldwide.

It has only 32 registers to allow full RF, filtering and protocol control, while maintaining flexibility.

Austria Microsystems has also formed a partnership with IE Technology (IET) to release the IET RU-210u mid-range up to 2.5m, fixed-UHF RFID reader, with USB and serial interface.

It is ideal for logistics, manufacturing and retail applications.

It is used in closed-loop pallet and crate tracking systems in several Asian markets.
