The KW Series of isolated power modules are a new generation of single-output convertors based on the Distributed-power Open Standards Alliance sixteenth brick DC/DC convertor footprint.

The KW010/015/020/025 Series of sixteenth-brick DC/DC isolated power modules are a new generation of single-output convertors based on the Distributed-power Open Standards Alliance (DOSA) sixteenth brick DC/DC convertor footprint.

Designed for optimum efficiency and power density, KW Series convertors are an ideal choice for small space, high current and low voltage applications in enterprise equipment, data processing equipment, access, wireless and optical network equipment, and distributed and hybrid power architectures.

Delivering up to 25A of output current, KW Series convertors provide output voltages from 5.0 to 1.0V DC and an input voltage range of 36 to 75V DC.

The series incorporates synchronous rectification technology and innovative packaging techniques to achieve ultra high efficiency reaching 91% at 3.3V full load.

KW Series convertors operate over the industrial temperature range of -40 to +85C.

The modules are built around DOSA's industry standard sixteenth brick footprint of 33.0 x 22.9 x 8.50mm and are RoHS compliant (2002/95/EC).

The KW Series modules are available in surface mount (SMT) packages in both tape and reel and through-hole packages.

Standard features include remote on/off (positive logic), output voltage adjustment, remote sense, overvoltage, overcurrent and overtemperature protection (nonlatching).

Remote on/off negative logic, basic insulation and the latching version of protection are available as options.

"We are thrilled, both as a power electronics manufacturer and as a founding member of DOSA, to roll out the KW Series isolated convertors".

"It combines industry and customer requirements into a standard, industry-accepted footprint", said Sabi Varma, Vice President of Marketing and Business Operations at Tyco Electronics Power Systems.

"The KW convertors' high-power density, high efficiency and compact design make the series an ideal choice for our end users".

Limited samples of KW Series modules are available now and priced at $37.10 in 1000-unit quantities.
