Start with the news release Photo IC for optical switching applications from Hamamatsu Photonics, which we summarised at the time by saying "Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced a photo IC that is designed for optical switches and provides an analogue waveform output, proportional to the intensity of incident pulsed light. ". Several months prior to that, we featured the news release Dates announced for National Electronics Week from National Electronics Week: "NEW Events has announced that National Electronics Week 2011 is taking place from 12-13 April at the NEC Pavilion in Birmingham. ".
