The Tasking R8C software development toolset now has support for the entire range of R8C/Tiny devices and a new interface to the Renesas E7 emulator.

The R8C/Tiny is a high-performance new series of 16bit microcontrollers from Renesas Technology Corp.

It allows developers to target a broad range of applications by offering a small pin count and flash memory at a very competitive price.

The Tasking R8C/Tiny toolset brings embedded developers the power of Altium's proprietary Viper compiler technology and its integrated embedded development environment, allowing them to take full advantage of the benefits of this new, cost-effective microcontroller.

"Altium's toolset provides the ability to develop highly efficient code which is both fast and compact, enabling customers to fully exploit this high-performance, low-cost microcontroller", said David Noverraz, Product Manager Support Tools, Renesas Technology Europe.

"With the new version of the toolset, our customers now have access to the full range of R8C/Tiny devices and can use the Renesas E7 emulator to debug on the physical hardware", said Jeroen C Verheijen, Product Manager for Tasking Tools, Altium.

The Tasking R8C/Tiny Software Development Toolset v1.1 includes the Tasking EDE, C compiler, CrossView Pro simulator, ROM monitor debugger, E7 emulator interface and R8C flasher, and is available on PC/Windows.

This package starts at Eur 1990 for a PC/Windows single-user licence.
