A wide range of precision shunts, designed for use with kilowatt-hour meters and other high-current applications where a high level of accuracy is required, is now available from Rhopoint Components.

These shunts, designed for PCB and busbar mounting, are manufactured from electron beam welded copper and manganin, and have temperature coefficients down below 10ppm.

The soft copper connections allow reliable busbar mounting, without stressing the resistance element, a common problem with shunts punched solely from a hard resistance material.

Featuring low inductance values of less than 1nH, these shunts will operate over the temperature range from -55 to +125C and can handle permanent currents of up to 100A.

With temperature coefficents of less than 10ppm/C over the range of 20 to 60C and tolerances of down 1%, these shunts can handle loads of 3W permanent power and pulse powers of 100W for 0.1s.

Using manganin with a thickness of 1.5mm enables resistance values of 0.160mohm to be obtained.
