In response to the Climate Change Levy, Rhopoint Systems has introduced the Telogers R-3000 series of fully configurable, data acquisition tools, which will monitor applications ranging from process control to remote datalogging.

The CCL has implications across a broad range of industries and, with this focus on energy consumption in mind; the new Telogers are particularly suitable for monitoring total plant energy usage and environmental parameters.

The new system allows users to choose the number of input channels, the types and ranges of those inputs, and specify programmable recording functions, all within one datalogger.

The Telogers operate using three key components that are also the essential building blocks of any system: a data recorder, software and a communications link.

Each component has a variety of options that allow the user to tailor the data collection system to suit any specification.

Recording options include the ability to sample rate and interval, specify statistic and recording displays and an alarm that keeps managers in timely contact with events.

The series is available in 14-, 7-, 3- and single-channel recorder versions, with the 3-channel version being ideal for energy monitoring applications where the pulses can be fed directly from water, gas and electricity meters.

Telogers for Windows, the software used to configure, collect and analyze the information from the datalogger, can be provided in two formats, Pro or Lite.

The Pro version allows for complex coordination of networks and includes automated scheduled calling and polling of Telogers, as well as a database driven by the Microsoft Access engine.

In the Lite version, many of the system features are hidden to provide quick access to relevant data.

This version can be used for straightforward tasks, such as reading, storing and presenting data in discrete data files.

The Lite version of Telogers for Windows is ideal for on-site work where data needs to be accessed quickly.

In applications where there is already a BMS or SCADA system on site, the raw data from the dataloggers can be fed directly into the proprietary system for analysis and alarming.

A variety of telemetry options are available, including the twisted pair RS-485 local area network, a telephone modem, a mobile telephone (GSM modem) or the local RS-232 link, using a laptop or palmtop computer.

A sophisticated error checking and correction algorithm guarantees data integrity.

Telogers come ready to mount and can be supplied with custom, weather resistant enclosures.

They are powered by batteries or from an external source on site.

A variety of data presentation options are available.
