BitBoys keeps track of VHDL files
Visualisation hardware company BitBoys has selected the Perforce SCM software configuration management tool
The Perforce SCM software configuration management tool has been selected by BitBoys, a visualisation hardware company that develops custom graphics acceleration hardware ASIC and IP solutions for mobile, embedded, and desktop applications. Finland-based BitBoys selected Perforce's SCM system because its speed and usability were ideal for managing the large volumes of VHDL hardware description files generated during the hardware design process.

BitBoys' developers connect to a central Perforce server over a wireless network when they are in the office, and over secure dial-up connections when they are working at external locations.
Perforce's client/server architecture means that users report the same high level of performance whether they are working with the Perforce server over the LAN or over a dial-up connection.
BitBoys singles out P4Win, the Perforce graphical user interface for Windows, as an important tool for developers.

Software configuration management comes to Sydney
Perforce Software is continuing to expand in the Asia-Pacific region with the opening of a new office in Sydney, Australia
Because P4Win is easy to use and offers rich functionality, new users can begin using Perforce with minimal training within a short period of time.
Marko Laiho, Software Team Leader, BitBoys, said: "We evaluated Perforce and found its look and feel, as well as its functionality, to be a very good fit for BitBoys.
Compared to our previous SCM system, it was easy to win over all our developers by showing them what Perforce could do, and how simple and unobtrusive it was to use.
Perforce also came with a very good recommendation from one of our customers, which gave us further peace of mind".
Laiho added: "By the end of 2004 we expect to have around 300 to 400Gbyte in our depot, so the fact that Perforce is also extremely robust is a long term benefit for us".
Dave Robertson, Director of European Operations, Perforce, said: "BitBoys is a symbian Platinum Partner and its on-chip graphics engine has recently been incorporated into NEC Electronics' latest mobile phone display.
It is the industry's first graphics engine capable of curve rendering.
BitBoys is at the cutting edge of visualisation hardware design and we are pleased that the company has selected the Perforce SCM system to manage its hardware design process.
BitBoys joins the growing number of hardware and hardware/software development companies that are using Perforce including: Nvidia, Philips Electronics, National Semiconductor, PalmOne, AMD, ST Microelectronics, and Cypress Microsystems among others".
