Chips keep cool about battery charging
The MAX1507 and MAX1508 are complete linear, constant-current/constant-voltage lithium-ion chargers that integrate constant temperature regulation in a tiny 9mm squared footprint.
The MAX1507 and MAX1508 are complete linear, constant-current/constant-voltage (CC-CV), lithium-ion (Li+) chargers that integrate constant temperature regulation in a tiny 9mm squared footprint These devices integrate a power mosfet, a reverse-blocking diode, and a current-sense resistor to minimise the total solution size for charging in hand-held equipment

This feature reduces ambient temperature rise and improves product reliability while minimising charge time and external component sizes.
To protect against loosely regulated AC adapters, the MAX1507 and MAX1508 are guaranteed to withstand input transients up to 14V.
The operating input voltage range is 4.25 to 7V (with overvoltage protection for inputs up to 14V).
The MAX1507 and MAX1508 fast-charge at up to 0.8A and include a charge-current monitor and a charge-status indicator.
The MAX1507 provides three selectable thermal-regulation setpoints, and the MAX1508 features an AC-adapter detection output (ACOK-bar).
The MAX1507 and MAX1508 are available in a space-saving, thermally enhanced, 3 x 3mm 8-pin TDFN package screened for the extended-industrial temperature range (-40 to +85C).
Prices start at $2.12 (1000-up, FOB USA).
An evaluation kit is available to speed designs.
