New from Maxim Integrated Products, the MAX1162 serial-interface 16bit A/D convertor connects directly to SPI, QSPI and Microwire devices without additional interface logic.
A second step-down regulator is included to generate memory and I/O logic supply.
Both regulators employ Maxim's proprietary Quick-PWM control architecture.
This fast-response, constant-on-time, pulsewidth modulated (PWM) control scheme handles wide input/output voltage ratios with ease and provides 100ns "instant-on" response to load transients while maintaining a relatively constant switching frequency.

Touch-screen controllers feature ESD protection
The MAX1233 and MAX1234 are programmable four-wire touch-screen controllers.
The MAX1816 and MAX1994 also have a linear-regulator controller for a 1.2V, 500mA CPU VID supply.
The CPU regulator supports "active voltage positioning" to reduce output bulk capacitance and lower power dissipation under heavy load conditions.
A programmable gain amplifier is included along the current-sense inputs of the CPU regulator, which allows the use of lower value sense resistors.
Four fixed gain settings are available (0, 1.5, 2 and 4).
The MAX1816 and MAX1994 include a differential remote-sense amplifier, which is used to more accurately control the voltage at the load.
They also include a specialised digital interface that makes them suitable for mobile CPU and video processor applications.
The power-good output for the core regulator is forced high during VID transitions, and the power-good output for the linear regulator includes a 1ms (min) turn-on delay that allows the CPU's internal PLL to stabilise.
Overvoltage protection (OVP) is available on both buck regulators, and the linear regulator.
The overvoltage detection level of the CPU regulator can be adjusted with an external resistive voltage divider, while the OVP thresholds for the other regulators are fixed.
The MAX1816 features an output voltage adjustment range from 0.6 to 1.75V.
Similarly, the MAX1994 is adjustable from 0.925 to 2V using an alternative set of VID codes.
While in suspend mode, the adjustment range is from 0.7 to 1.075V for both MAX1816 and MAX1994 The MAX1816 and MAX1994 are available in 48-pin QFN packages.
All devices are screened for the -40 to +100C temperature range.
Prices start at $5.51 (1000-up, FOB USA).
An evaluation kit with recommended external components is available to reduce design time.
