Lightconnect has launched an eight-channel variable opticalattenuator (VOA) module that meets industry standard requirementsfor optical performance, size and electrical drive. Applicationsfor the device include power control and equalisation, receiverprotection, channel on/off switching, mux/demux and OADM modules.Designed with an industry-common 50 x 53mm footprint, 12-pinheader and 5 or 15V electrical drive, the Lightconnect MEMS VOAmodule provides network system suppliers with the flexibility tointerchange VOA modules from multiple vendors without alteringtheir PC board designs.
