Multicore processing is conference keynote
One of the key focuses for this year's Boards and Solutions Conference is the migration to multicore processing
The migration to multicore processing, although fraught with challenges, is the only plausible way to achieve the computing performance required in the not-to-distant future, concluded a panel of executives at the Multicore Expo. This year's Boards and Solutions Conference will provide the answers, and Simon Holland, Intel's Senior Technical Director, will deliver the conference keynote on this topic.

Virtually all the major processor vendors are focusing their efforts on multicore chips, which may integrate two, four or even eight processor cores.
Nonetheless, most embedded engineers are familiar only with uniprocessor programming and need guidance on how to design and optimise software for multicore architectures.
The multicore software sessions will offer this help.
The preliminary draft programme for Boards and Solutions is available now online, and interested parties can also register for the event via the Invents UK website.
The principal Speaker for the RTOS Session will be David Kalinsky, he is known for his expertise in RTOS and related spheres He will underpin the content supplied by Intel and discuss the design of multicore application software.

Boards and Solutions UK will be held on 24th May 2006 at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre, Reading.
The conference itself continues to have a single focus - to create a programme of serious presentations that discuss and debate current technical trends, applications, solutions and know how in embedded computing - hardware and software.
The conference audience will be development engineers, engineering management, system integrators and other technical specialists.
The table-top exhibition, running in parallel with the conference, provides a communication platform where the conference delegates and exhibition visitors can talk to the technical staff of leading manufacturers and distributors of manufacturers and distributors of embedded computing hardware, software and services.
The table-top stands will be manned with technical specialists so in addition to the serious content of the conference, the Boards and Solutions exhibition also provides a unique opportunity for deep technical discussions with the major players in embedded computing.
