Green Hills Software has announced the 10th anniversary edition of its Integrity real-time operating system (RTOS). More than two years in development, Integrity 10 includes a number of features that address the demanding performance and reliability requirements of next-generation complex devices.
'Integrity has enjoyed the highest RTOS market share growth over the past five years', said Dan O'Dowd, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Green Hills Software.
'This success is due to its remarkable adoption by device developers across a wide range of industries, including consumer, networking, medical, automotive, industrial, and avionics'.
'Developers take advantage of Integrity's advanced architecture to create products that perform better, have absolute security, and cost less to develop than products based on other RTOSs'.
'This release further extends the technological gap between Integrity and other products in the market'.
10 Integrity 10 supports symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) wherein the operating system will automatically load balance applications across multiple cores on SMP-capable processors such as the Freescale Power Architecture-based 8641D.

SMP support enables developers to realise the performance potential of multicore architectures while maximising software reuse.
Integrity 10 also supports nonuniform memory architecture (NUMA) systems in which applications are intelligently allocated and distributed across multiple cores that have their own fast local memory.
In addition to multicore processing, Integrity 10 improves performance with a significant speed-up in system call execution time.
Integrity 10 includes a new debug agent that enables debugging of application programs with minimal real-time overhead, improved performance, and unprecedented control and flexibility.
In addition, the new debug agent provides a significant performance boost for on-target event logging used by the Multi EventAnalyzer.
The EventAnalyzer provides a graphical view of system behaviour, including context switches, interrupts, system calls, and interprocess communication, and is used by developers for performance tuning and to find difficult bugs such as deadlocks and race conditions.
Integrity 10 is integrated with version 5 of the Multi IDE and includes a new project manager that makes the creation and management of even the most complex, multi-process systems easy and intuitive.
Also included are new kernel awareness debugging features that provide increased visibility into kernel object state during application development.
The combination of Integrity 10 and Multi 5 represent the state of the art in RTOS development tool integration, enabling developers to bring their products to market faster.
Integrity 10 has several new security features, including a memory resource lending capability for the secure and efficient distribution and revocation of resources, and a new 'pure virtual' device driver model that enhances Integrity's unique driver architecture to further maximise system reliability while minimising security and safety certification costs.
'Our research has shown that Integrity has been a leading hard real-time operating system in terms of market share growth over the past several years', commented Steve Balacco, Senior Analyst at Venture Development Corporation.
'This 10th anniversary edition of Integrity includes an array of technological advancements that device makers will increasingly look to take advantage of including security, reliability, performance, and usability'.
Integrity 10th anniversary edition will be available in Q1 2007. Request a free brochure from Green Hills Software....
